Only coin i found today, the best Buffalo Nickel i've found 1919s, wonder why the s mint is worth less than the d mint , there were fewer of the 19s minted than the 19d

Nice find. Reason for the price diff. was that the S mint types were hoarded more than the D mint issues. Reasons vary but from what I could gather there was more mystique assoc. with the S mint coins during the time period. That generally means that there are less S mint varieties out there despite the difference in the numbers minted. Hope that helps.

Nice Buffalo. Had a hunt today and only found 2 coins with one being a JFK half. Get some strange results swinging. Wisconsin Digger

That buffalo nickel is in great shape, Dave!

There are many instances where higher mintage coins are worth more than lower mintage ones. A coin's value is determined by how many survive today, not necessarily by how many were actually minted. In some cases, certain coins were hoarded in great numbers, or bags of them were discovered in bank vaults many years after they were minted.

Looks like that Buffalo was in great shape when lost. Still looks in great shape even after spending all that time under the dirt. I hope I fair as well :lol:
