1929 SLQ & Wheaties

Howdy everyone!

Took a few days off from detecting. Today I went back to the spot where I dug my 1899 barber quarter, silver half crown & big Native American style silver ring.

After only about 20 minutes I got a deep silver signal but it was cutting out a little so I thought it might be iron. A few inches off to the left there was a junk signal right under the surface, so I dug it to clear up the other signal more. (The 12-15 junk signal on the e-trac ended up being a pull tab) after I removed that I liked the deep signal a little better. About 9 inches down to my surprise it ended up being a SLQ, and with a date!

Just imagine if someone would have dropped that pull tab right on top the quarter. I wouldn't have found it. :shocked01:

It was the same situation with the 1899 barber quarter. I dug a surface nickel a few inches away then when I re scanned around the hole I got a 10 silver quarter, which the nickel was masking. There's so much clad littered in this spot that It's covering up some of the old coins.

After the quarter I spent the next 2 hours digging about 3 bucks in clad and the 7 wheats pictured (all 40's and 50's)
Had a great time!
Happy hunting everyone!

Congrats on the beautiful Standing Liberty Quarter, Jon! :peace:

They don't turn up too often, especially ones with a date. Terrific find! <:

:congrats:

Nice finds. The SLQ's are on of my favorites. I was so happy when I found my first and only one. Congrats on a great coin!
