I decided to take the day off work and do a little metal detecting so I headed to a park I have not hunted yet and told myself...I'm digging everything!!
Got 2 knives, womens watch (Dorset made in Germany), $1.15 in clad, 3 wheat cents (two 37's and a 44), 1943s war nickel, two mercs (1935s and a 1942s) , a cool milk token (Good for 1 pint)...the front has the name of the town and farmer (not showing).
I also included a picture of all the trash for your viewing pleasure!
Thanks for looking!

Looks like a fun day to me! :thumbsup02:

Thanks for showing the junk too. You found lots of bottle caps so you must have had your discrimination set pretty wide open.

Congrats on the silver, wheats and the nice token! :clapping:

Thanks Tony,

I was running a new program on my V3i and wanted to check everything...I should just hunt that way anyway! The program was spot on!!

Very nice hunting and :congrats:on your keepers. Did the silvers give any strange VDI's or were they normal VDI's for silver, especially the war nickel?

Thanks Aloldstuff, The dimes came in at 79 - 81 (the older one was only 2 inches deep and strong) the other one was 7inches and jumping around but never out of range of a keeper. The war nickel was a solid 24/25 every pass...regular nickles are always between 19 - 22 in my soil.

Thanks for the info. The reason I asked about the war nickel is I've only dug 8 of them. My regular nickel's fall in the VDI range that you described but I usually don't dig the 24/25 VDI's.....seems like I should now.

Way to go! The Swiss Army knife even has the toothpick. Looks like you may have rubbed the dirt off those mercs. If they were a 16-D that might amount to $1,000 in damage. I have one park I go to that I'm thinking of gridding off a 50x50 area and digging everything. There are so many coins in this one park it's hard to get through the new ones to get to the old ones. Last time there I dug 86 coins in 3 hours trying to avoid the shallow stuff. I figured if I dug everything in a 2500 square foot area and it worked out if would still leave me 22,747,500 square feet of area to work with : )

:embarrassed: Yup I tend to rub them...NOT GOOD...I know!!!! Good luck on your park!! Dig everything works great if you have the time.
