A new 1st for me x2

Haven't been doing much digging, it's been too hot & the ground is like concrete. went out a few weeks ago and scored my 1st Shield nickel, looks to be 1882, front side is in rough shape. And not more than 10 feet away I scored my 1st Spanish Silver COB. When I 1st pulled the COB out of the ground I thought it was scrap metal but I turned it over & seen some shiney peaking through so I cleaned it off & seen the design. This site has produced some good finds, 4 LC's, Barber Quarter, IH, Musketball, Buttons etc.. Swinging the ML Safari with the NEL Sharpshooter, I love the Safari with the NEL coil.

Congrats on two wonderful firsts, especially the Spanish silver cob! :notworthy:

I remember how excited I was when I found my first Shield Nickel. When it comes to US coins, nickels are not the easiest to find, especially when they are deep.

And we rarely see Spanish cobs here on the forum. What an incredible piece of history! It's probably from the 1600s or early 1700s, or possibly even older. With a little research you may be able to identify and date it.

Congrats on the terrific finds! :perfect10:

Thanks everyone for the kind comments. I'm excited to have the COB, I never expected to find one in my lifetime. I also never expected to find a Real but I was lucky enough to find a 1777 Half real in rough shape last year. both the Real & the COB were found in public parks in NJ that were very old farms at one time.

Not sure how I missed this, but Congrats on the Cobb! I remember when I found mine I was in a daze for the rest of the day.
