A very worn seated dime

I detected a site Ive been looking for for a couple years. I finally found it after much research and a talk with a local person. It is an old hotel that was built in 1880 and was in use until it burnt down in 1933. It was a 3 story hotel with a couple out buildings. The location is a wooded area on private property. I obtained permission and was excited to hunt it. Unfortunately it was as I expected, loaded with iron trash. I did manage to find one silver, a 1:eyebrow:thinkingabout: seated dime. It is the most worn coin I have ever found. I could tell it was seated because I can barley make out the 18 of the date and it has large numbers similar to the seated dimes. I also found one wheat 1927. The other finds are from the ball diamond Ive been hunting. The watch is a Timex and It Keeps On Ticking. It was down about 4 inches and after cleaning it I wound it up set the time and what do you know, it works. Got to love a Timex.
Does anyone have any suggestions for dealing with all the iron. I thought of using a smaller coil and running 2 tone ferrous. I just need to figure out a good set-up for 2-tone ferrous.

yes very worn but a silver , i have one that is smooth on both side , if you tilt it just right you can see the outline of lady liberty , great hunt

Great find!!! A lot of times those really worn coins will give a much lower tone than normal. My first seated dime rang in at 45 with my M6, normally would be 80

i'd keep working that site.i know its frustrating but if ya stick with it you are bound to pull more coins.bring a garbage can with ya ;) get rid of the trash, and the coins will start poppin

Nice find! Very worn but it counts. :clapping:
Congrats on finding the site. I agree with HMN. Start peeling back the layers. If it's a tough site to work for you, it was for other folks too. Being a hotel, there's probably lots of goodies there.
Good luck.

Nice! thumbsup01 That seated has seen many hands for sure, but they are great finds even when very worn. :smitten:

Very nice find! I would say just keep working that area and going back over it again and again, pull all the iron out to get to the good stuff. You'll be there all year I bet.

Boy she is a slick one ain't she  Oh well! I'll take a seated in any shape !! And I'm sure you will too lol
Nice find Jeff!
Congrats

old silver is great no matter what shape its in congrats on it and the working Timex :beerbuddy:
