Another Button

I found this button in the back yard of the same house I found the first military button. Weird thing is, this one was just barely covered with dirt. Couldn't have been there more than two years I'd say. Will return to check the area again when I get my new coil.

Photos aren't good, but the back says "City Button Works" across the top and "New York" across the bottom.
Is also larger than the first military button I found.

I found a little info on the net about this company, but not a lot. Any info would be appreciated.

The "City Button Works, New York" backmark was used from 1877-1955. Your button would date from 1910-1917,1923-1955 unless it has black paint on it. If so. it would date from 1910-1923.

Second that. WWI era button. Nice find. I wouldn't be too quick to say it was a recent drop. I found a wheat literally on top of the grass, in two completely different locations. Not at all covered with dirt. You may have found a spot with not much work done to it. I'd concentrate the area a bit more. Hopefully you have a DD or a small coil to use in that specific area.
