Another double check find - Company C

Heavymetalnut's post below about his thimble find reminded me of something I almost threw out. Some years ago I had been hunting an old fort for a couple years, had dug all the troop unit & company's insigna except for the C. I dug what looked like a bent up pull tab & threw it into my junk pouch. A week later I remembered the junk & went through it before tossing it. The bent & doubled C looked a little different and sure surprised me when I got it straightened out.

i've had a few whatsits in my trash scrap pouch before only to later find out what they truely are after a good cleaning . very good eye Steve and great looking display , do you still get out to hit the old fort sites from time to time :huh: one of these days i would love to come back out to Arizona
( home) to visit and try my luck at one .
 
Del - I stopped going to the 2 sites about 2 years ago. Many people have detected there & it got to be such slim pickings. Still fun tho ! Steve
 
Real nice relic display Steve :loveit: And I thought you didn't have anything old to dig out there :confused: I would always be tempted to go back and hunt it, even if I had to dig all metal for a bit. You never know what may turn up :dontknow: Great catch not throwing out that relic. It's amazing that those items survive given how fragile they are.

I hope I haven't thrown away anything as significant as that :-\
