Another medieval spur!!!

Hello Diggers,

Can you believe it? I found my third medieval spur this year! This one dates to the very late 1400s or 1500s. That makes a total of 6 spurs I have dug now. I spent 2 days cleaning and conserving it and I think it came out pretty good. It is complete with all 3 hook mounts and a tiny bronze spectacle buckle. A lot of the original tinning is still there too. Thanks for looking and happy digging, Dave.

These are really amazing finds! And you preserve them so well too. Congrats on all of the museum pieces!

Amazing find, Dave, and it's about as complete as you can get! Would this have belonged to a soldier or just a regular citizen riding a horse?

Only knights were allowed to wear spurs during the medieval era. It wasn't until the late 1600s we start to see "equestrian" spurs being worn by wealthy people.
