Arrived in Florida!

Hi all,
Just got to the condo about 3 hours ago. Got unloaded mostly, then hit the beach to give the GPX 4800 a test run. All I can say is WOW! No matter 2 inches or 2 feet, it hits hard and solid. I did go after some iffy but repeatable targets to see what they were and each turned out to be small deep nails. For a hard hit beach, I probably didn't do too bad despite the matching being quirky to dial in. It really hates EMI, and there's lots of it here apparently. But I think I have it mostly figured out, even the transition area between wet and dry sand. Seeing I've never detected a salt water beach, I'm surprised how tough it really is.
Once I get settled in, I'll start working on videos. Thought I would start with the last leg of the trip and go hunting for the rest of the first installment.ill post once I get it done.

We have quite a few people, but it's the slow time of year. Most of us have frozen ground right now.
Thanks, my vacation was great! Didnt find any shipwreck gold or silver, but had a great time detecting pretty much every day. Most days I was able to hit a new place somewhere between Melbourne beach and Fort Pierce. Really hated all the fill sand!
Using my GPX 4800 with the 18" mono coil, I got beat up pretty quick digging 3-4 feet for sinkers and pennies!
The only downer was the one day I decided to forgo my water shoe and enjoy having my feet in the sand and water. Mind you, by this time I was nicely tanned and didnt need the SPF 1 million sunscreen any more. I forgot my feet were not immune to the sun. Woke up the next morning to find I couldnt walk once I hit the floor in excruciating pain from 2nd degree sunburn, and fell flat on my face. I was immobile for 3 days after that, and took weeks to recover.

It'll be my turn to give the Florida beaches a go here in a few short months. I hear ya on the sun poisoning! That hurts like a banshee! :stretcher::whiteflag:
