while all the snow has been on ground i got a side job offer to renovate an old house apt..I noticed the house across street has to be 1820's based on the cut stone foundation it sits on.after i finished the last of the odds n ends on a month long rennovation,i walked to back of yard near wood line.started kicking leaves along a rock wall.glass everywhere! old broken bottles.i was using a garden claw tool and scarping all kinds of crap up outta ground when WHOOOOP! out pops this ring i couldn't believe it!
i believe its 1920's or 30's with a UNCAS makers mark all covered with marcasites.center stone is missing.
heres some before and after pics of remodel job inside.
then my ring and the only whole bottle so far outta this dump site. a weekend of detecting coming up and so stoked!

Great remodel work!!! Very nice margin all the way around that door thumbsup01 thumbsup01 thumbsup01 thumbsup01 thumbsup01 thumbsup01
Sweet ring find,,,,best of luck with a tector there!!!!

Nice save on the ring! it would take another Carpenter to appreicate the reveil around a door install,,The remodel is looking good thumbsup01,I am in the finish mode on a 600 sq.ft. Basement, should wrap it up this next week...I say hit that place with a tector for sure, best of luck,Dave

Nice rehab job! Were you able to save some of that vintage children's linoleum? As for the ring, my wife and I are big art deco fans and that ring just doesn't say art deco to us. The bottom view does look a bit AD, but the top not so much. Anyway, congrats on a great eyeball find!

Nice work and congrats on the Ring !!
I like the old floor that has the Cow jumping over the Moon on it thumbsup01

thanks! yeah i saved a small piece of it.
what time period would you say the ring is then? alot of old broken brown clorox bottles and stuff as well here
maybe 1930's? 40's then?

Nice renovation job. thumbsup01 That kids flooring looks '30's. Looks like that yard would give up some nice finds with the detector. <: I agree, ring looks 30's 40's.

My wife and I looked at a bunch of rings on the internet trying figure out what category yours fits in. We think it is more in the Art Nouveau (1890-1910) category than Art Deco. We are not sure about the stamp though.

uncas is the makers mark i know they may have went out of buisness in the 50's or 60's i think.makes ya wonder how a good ring ends up in a bottle dump? and whats the chances of me scraping around in that particular area and have it pop out :thinkingabout:
I found this ring on a site.seems this is UNCAS's earliest makers mark

The Uncas U between two arrows (their earliest mark) appears inside the ring,

Nice research HMN! Uncas was founded in 1911 and Art Deco arrived about 1920 (pushing Art Nouveau out of style). I would say your ring was made between 1911 and 1920!

Reminds me of the days when the treasure mags were selling relic rakes to scratch around for civil war stuff. Nice looking job on the remodeling and and real cool looking ring. Good luck on the return trip.
