AT Pro battery Indicator

Just got a new AT Pro. The battery indicator appears to be flakey. Sometimes shows all bars, sometimes none. I know a call to Garret is probably warrented, but has anyone run across this? New charged nicads do not eliminate the issue.

no i havent had this problem yet but it seems like every time i turn it on the batterys have more life then when i turned it off last

I just don't have luck with my re-chargables. Only using them when I'm out of the throw always. Right out of the charger, I'm already one bar down on my battery indicator, and the most I can get out of them is 2 1/2 hours MAX.

I concurr...3 bars at most on the Pro....good rechargables too!

Depending on the type of rechargeable battery, the voltages will be different.
A ni cad is only 1.2 volts per battery, whereas a non rechargeable alkaline is 1.55 volts when new.
Some detectors like the GTI 2500 have an option where you can indicate the type of batteries you are using so the gauge reads correctly.
