They sure were big back in the day. Found this this morning at my favorite colonial spot. It was deep. It was a fun 1 hour hike.

nice big Dandy button Steve :smitten: :smitten: theres probably gilt in the design's recesses also.
 
nice button Steve! I'm tellin ya go to home depot in the paint dept and grab a fine brass bristled brush! they work miracles on buttons like that.
here's mine before & after a little soap,warm water and the brush
