Complete Shoe Buckle, Cuffs

Hi everyone,
I hit two sites this morning...the first site was beautiful but the ferns were still bothersome. The second site produced one of the best shoe buckles I've ever found. :loveit:
The pin is brass and the workings still move.
To top it off, a complete colonial cuff.
I used my trusty T2 today as I planned to be out in the bush, and it covers ground...the price I paid was I dug my first ox shoe in months. Not a bad trade off.
Thanks!!

Thanks everyone!! The front of those cuffs seems very modernist for being so old.

Anyone have any advice on cleaning that buckle? I'm torn between leaving the patina and taking a tooth pick to it. Thanks!

That buckle is a beauty Drew. I bet you even Dan is drooling over that one. Colonial cufflinks always a great find, especially when you have the set. Nice to see you dust off your T2. She was obviously eager for a hunt. I am off this week, got a painting project to finish but I do plan to get in the woods a some point for a combo hunt. If the relics are scarce, hopefully the mushrooms are not.

Beautiful buckle Drew. I wonder if those dimples has colored glass in them. I'd use my Dremel tool with the wool polishing cloth to remove the crud after a nice soak in warm soapy water.

Those cuffs are really neat!

Once again great relics and a nice hunting area. (Please more such photos). I would leave the cuffs for a while. Sometimes the dried dirt falls off on its own. Otherwise I would use a scalpel or cannula needle.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the advice and info!...and Homer
Yeah, Roger...I was hoping to find a piece of glass on it but did not.
