Cut Short by the Rain but not before...

Ill Digger

After doing some chores around the house I gave Ted a call and we when out to my sister-in-laws, in-laws, farm to do some swinging.:detecting:
Shortly into the hunt I got a screaming penny signal. Saying a penny at 2 inches.

It turn out to be a commemorative badge commemorating the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition.

Shorty after that I got a 12-41 that turn out to be bent Sterling silver ring (bent up pretty bad)

Moving down the fence out front I got a 12-43 (penny signal). I dropped down popped the plug and there was a silver half dollar!! :shocked04:
It turned out to be a 1940S Walking Liberty half dollar! After pulling out the half I rechecked the hole and pulled out a 1929 wheatie. Nice little coin spill ! :thumbsup01:

Great finds Tim! Congrats on yet another big silver too. The ring looks to be missing part. It looks like it was one of those 2- or 3-part rings. I can see the pin hole. That golden gate thingy still has a lot of nice color to it. Best wishes and HH, Dave.

Way to go, Tim! :clapping:

That Golden Gate badge is HUGE! :shocked04: What a cool find! It still has most of the gold color too, not tarnished much.

And congrats on the Walker as well! You can't beat finding big silver in the hole! :yahoo:

The silver ring is interesting too. I'm trying to figure out what that is on it?

Congrats on the terrific hunt before the rain came! :perfect10:

Some nice hunting with some some great keepers. Congrats on that 1/2 dollar and the ring. Looking forward to seeing what else you get out of that spot.

Nice! looks like a great spot! :detecting:
Thanks! I think it's a early 1900's farm house. It may have had a older house sitting there, but I haven't researched that ...yet.
But there's plenty of area we didn't get a chance to hunt. As Arnold Schwarzenegger would say "I'll be back" !

Thanks Dave! I think your right about the ring. I was wondering why the design was on the edge and not on the outside rim of the ring. Then when I seen the hole I was wondering if it was part to a bigger piece. It'd be cool to find the other pieces! And as for the badge, I think I could get the rest of the discoloration off, but I'm afraid to do any damage to the great finish that is there.:bummer:

Thanks Tony! I know, this thing is huge! At first I was thinking a jar lid or something, till I seen the big "1939" on it and the writing. Then I was like !
And as for the ring. I can tell there was something on top of it, but it looks like it got damaged. Probably the same time it got bent. Now I have no idea what it is or what it was supposed to be. :dontknow:

Quality, not quantity my friend. That's what it's all about. Fantastic Walker and just love the token. Definitely a spot to return to. Here's a bit more on your token if you wish for a bit more info...http://coinquest.com/cgi-bin/cq/coins?main_coin=14191

Thanks John! And thanks for the link. I seen that same site while I was researching it. It seems there's a lot of them out there, kinda a dime a dozen. But I'm still tickled to have it! It looks good in my display case! :thumbsup01:

:shocked03:you said it that badge is a monster! congrats on the walker as well Tim :clapping:
Thanks Dan!
You ain't kiddin' it's a monster. It wouldn't even fit in the coin pouch in my bag. I had to put in my cargo pocket.

Thanks Al! It was a nice little hunt before it started to pour :badday:. We'll go back and hit it again for sure one of these days.

All I know Tim , is if I saw you pull that from the ground I might have reported you to the authorities for stealing man hole covers. I like the badge my friend !

WOW!!!! :congrats: Those are some fantastic finds Tim :perfect10: :perfect10: Absolutely love that badge!
