DB Copper, first nickel in two years

Lodge Scent

It had been several hunts since I had last dug a copper. It took to the very last minute of this hunt this morning before I finally got on the board. I don't think I had 5 swings of the coil left before I was going to get to the log where I was going to sit down and pack up my gear.

Dug this 180? Draped Bust from under that root.

I was more surprised earlier in the hunt to dig a buffalo nickel. It has been a couple of years since a dug a nickel of any kind. Managed an Indian Head penny as well as some plated flatware. This site goes back to the 1740s but was a piggery in the early 1900's. I have pulled dozens of utensils from this site.

The pig farmer must have picked up slop from a local hospital. I have found a few spoons that say NURSES.

Was out in the woods early enough to flush a couple of flocks of turkeys from their roosts. Found my first gut pile of the archery season. Deer ticks were as bad as I have seen them all year. Easily flicked a couple dozen off my pant legs on the hike. They love to launch from those briars.

Stay safe!

Jeff
