Fathers day digs

Ill Digger

Got to go and hunt an 1870's farm house today. We've been waiting to go here for some time. Today the stars aligned and we made the 40 minute drive. It started out pretty slow. We actually left and went across the road to a home site the farmer told us about. It was too grown over to hunt. I said I wanna go back to the home farm and dig up that Standing Liberty thats there. ;) So we went back to the home farm for the last 2 hours. After 25 minutes one of my huntin' buddys, Earl ,comes over to me, rubbing someting. I said What'ya got? He said I was hopin you can tell me. He says It says 1868 on it? He hands me this emerald green coin with a big shield on the front of it. :shocked04: I said Congradulations!! You just dug a 2 cent piece!! :clapping: It is in pretty good shape too!!
Probably 5 minutes later I dig up what I thought was going to be a IH by the color and size of it. I rub the dirt off to see a number 2 :shocked04:  I don't know what is or what country it's from ? But it's a cool find!! And to end the day right as we are saying it's probably time to start heading home Ted says &quot:daydream:beatdown: last hole So I stand there and watched him dig up a no date Standing Liberty Quarter and a1950 wheatie out of one hole :crying02: :blackeye:
So all together we pulled 14 Wheats,1 SLQ,1 2center,1 rosie,1 buff,1 war nickel, and the #2 coin. Plus some other cool relics and of course a ton of trash.

Thanks for lookin' and HH
Happy Fathers Day to all you dads thumbsup01

Those are some good finds. I love the look of that 1904 coin! I'm with del, I would be back at that place gridding the dirt out of it. lol

Great digs, the 2 heller is sweet! Love the nice green patina. Congrats on a great hunt!

Nice to have a chance to do private property like that. I love those kind of invitations thumbsup01 Good amount of keepers and I really like the toy cannon? Beauty of a patina on that Austrian coin. Wouldn't do anything but soap and a toothbrush to it. I guess someone traveled there or was from there and came here. I love foreign coins because there is a hidden story to them. I take it you guys are going back?

I sure hope so!
The one friend, who got the SL, I don't think is going to be in a big hurry to go back. :dontknow:
I think he had illusions of grandeur lol I think we'll be back though...probably in the fall :)

I finally got the pics of Theolas & Earls finds from Earl.

Nice 2 cent piece. Don't think I ever saw a '68 dug. That was a good hunt. Lots of different time periods.
