Finally. For me... I've always wondered if my detector was good enough to find an oldy but goodie. Well it did. Early morning hunt at a very old city park turned up a decent 1899 Indian Head penny. Though, in below good condition, its a keeper. I know it isn't a show stopper or worth much, but its still a cool first in my book.

:congrats: on the IH!! I have only found 1 myself. A 1890. They made a trilion of them. It's weird how you don't find many!

Congrads on breaking into the 1800's
I like that green patina.
The condition looks real good to me.
I wish most of my Indian Heads cane up as good as your.
Now to find the 1899 Barber dime that was lost with it.
Thanks for the post

What made it an odd find was the fact that it was barely an inch deep. But, not three feet away from it, I find a penny (dated 2001) at almost 4 1/2 inches deep. I thought it was funny and odd too.

:peace:
Congratulations on breaking the barrier. :clapping: It is not easily done.
Looking forward to when you post a silver from the 1800's. :->

:clapping: All right |:cheering:
You just never know what's gonna pop up next!
She's a beauty! :cheering:
Congats!

I have an atpro and the only old coins I can find are at construction sites where the deep dirt has been turned up by bulldozers. Ive never found a indianhead freestyle detecting. The shallow indian head you found was probably dropped a long time ago but a tree root or rock suspended it so it didnt sink over the years.

My artillery is a newer BH tracker 4 w/ the stock 8inch coil. And yes... I am going to upgrade. I'm getting me the 10 inch coil by this weekend. I hunt w/ sensitivity as high as it can go w/o chatter. I set Discriminaton at 50%. And I keep it in tone mode on the toggle switch. And I always use headphones. (The environmental sound canceling type).

WTG! Congrats on a first for you. I too am still looking for an 1800 coin. Again, :congrats:
