First day out for 2014...finally the snow has melted! At least in the valley here. Can't get to any cellar holes yet (new ones on my list or the old favorites) as snow remains 6-18" in the deeper woods. That will come in a week or two though...gotta let things melt and dry out a bit up there. In the meantime checked out an older downtown park here in Burlington (c. 1895). Great just to get a swingin' again, but boy does the forearm ache after 3 hours of digging with the new 10" coil! Got to get those muscles toned back up. Anyway, below a quick shot of some meager finds. Horseshoe, simple buckle, fired bullet, chunk of lead, a few pieces of clad and two wheaties (plus some junk of course - not shown). Wheat on the left is a worn but readable 1909 so didn't go home completely empty handed. Better finds lay ahead once I can get into the hills. Happy hunting.
