Tim and I got out Monday and hit an 1880s farm house.
We were told it was hit once before, but we gave it a shot anyway.
Dug my first trifecta of the year and once again I was unable to find a Rosie for the ever elusive grand slam.
It was a large yard and we got permission to go back!
Must be nice detecting in January. Good luck on the return hunt. Went through Illinois on Friday and had my detector along, I should of kept my eyes open for you guys. Nice start to the year. WD
That's a good variety of coins for a yard that was previously detected! I hope you didn't rub that seated dime or you will decrease the value! LOL! Congrats and looking forward to our next hunt together.
That's why you should never be discouraged after being told that a site has been detected before! You never know the skill level of the previous detectorist or what machine they were using. How could anyone miss a half dollar?
Both of those Mercs look like early drops, Don. That 1917 has hardly any wear at all! Nice!
Great hunt! That's the way to start off the year! :clapping:
Great start for the year! Being a large yard I can see missing a coin by inches even if it is a half dollar. I remember one yard we hit where the owner said it was hit previously and we pulled some fantastic stuff out including my CW era pewter whistle which in itself was pure luck because it was just so deep it barely made a peep in only one direction and would likely be missed by almost anyone.
