First Silver of 2016 - 1906 Barber Dime

Digger Don

I got up today hoping the ground might be thawed enough to dig a couple of plugs. I went to a park not far from my house that has grassy and wooded areas. I was detecting about 45 minutes when I got a high pitched 12-46 at 6 inches. It took a while to chip thru the frozen ground, but it was worth it. i pulled out a 1906 Barber Dime. First Silver of the year. Unfortunately, that was it for the day. But a good day it was. :)

Nice way to start the new season!
Congrats!
How much frost did you have to chip through before you hit soft dirt?

Way to go, Don! It is definitely a bonus to be able to get silver this time of year! And a Barber to boot! :thumbsup02:

Still working out how to use this site. Nice find Don. Too bad I couldn't pull some silver when I was with you. But 2 wheat pennies and a formerly gilded junk ring tells me there is more at that park.

Very nice coin Don. Man, what we'll do to get to a good signal! I've got a great one I've GPS'd on an old road that has to be an old copper or silver. Just too rock-solid frozen for me to have a go at the moment.
