George Washington Inaugural Button just found rarity value of 6 in Alberts book.

I'm still in shock from the John Adams button last week and this flies out of the ground today! I'm at loss for words. BTW got it on video too but will be awhile before I post it ...but heres what I can show of the dig.

That's beautiful. What a stellar find. Between this button and your John Adams button, you must have a strong heart! I would probably have dropped dead if I dug two unusually rare pieces of history in such a short time span.

And yes, certainly frozen in here in Wisconsin. You can see a couple photos in the water hunting area of my last post.
 
Thanks guys! I cant believe it. Two rare pieces in less than 2 weeks. Now all need is one them there tree coins.

:shocked03::wow: A scripted GW button , haven't seen that variety recovered in quite some time , easily looking at a 4 figure relic there :perfect10: i'm assuming its the size of dandy button in the neighborhood of 33 to 37mm ? Great find CD !:notworthy:
 
This button is on pg.396 of Albert's button book. It is listed as WI 20-A. On the GW button website it is known as GWI-20-a. I spoke to the owner of the GW site, and he thinks it could still carry a rarity of R-6. (3-5 known)​
I think its 25 mm or 27mm its smaller than a dandy button...
 
It must have a R Value greater than 6. Heck a general service button in Albert's book, of which there were many thousands or more, has an RV of one. The hard rubber general service buttons carry an RV of 20. I know there must have been way more rubber general service buttons out than there were George Washington buttons like yours. An R value of 6 must be incorrect unless I am missing something.


Disregard this post: I had forgotten that those buttons carry a different rating scale in Albert's book than the others.

What can one say but, WOW:shocked05:... :congrats: (with great envy). Still waiting to find my first seated with arrows as well.. Can't wait to see what else you dig up from that field.
 
Congratulations, well now you have found a significant piece of history of our first president Washington, and our second Adams....waiting for something from Jefferson!

No joke it really happened! The kicker is this is a very rare type of GW button. It will posted on the GW button site that Robert Silverstein has. The Adams will be on there too. I hope it doesn't violate forums rules by me saying that ,its not another metal detecting site.
