Boy was it a hot muggy one too!
Ron and I met up with Jim Atkiv (who is retired and detecting almost every day now
) in the norther corner of Massachusetts , its been so long since i've gotten out I almost forgot how the deus sounded
. Ron did well with almost a dozen buttons at the few sites go to hit , I struggled at the first site as everything sounded off including the buttons they even looked questionable on the XY screen . I managed to change a couple of things and i scored about a half a dozen buttons and my find of the day was a nice shoe buckle
the complete iron chape and tongue fell out of it as soon as i lifted from its resting place . The crusty layer came off easily with just a toothpick
but it was very chalky and green . its a challenge to stabilize this type of surface and i decided to tumble it for a bit to get it down to the metal and preserve there .
