Great Day Digging with Widest Variety of Finds. Half Cent 1800s Silver to Roosie

Hello all!

I headed out to a site tonight that I have been at twice before... The site is a stand alone building built in the late 20's and farm land before that...

The pervious 2 hunts yielded 15-20 wheaties... a 1943 Huge Austrailian Penny... and 1944 Mercury Dime... Its about 3 acres... 1/2 of that being pretty grown over and can't swing there a lot... Late in the fall perhaps :-)

The pervious hunts I used the 1:blackeye:12 SEF.... Today I decided to use the 6X8 SEF as the targets I had recoverd were not over 6...

Today started slow... I got 4 wheats in the first 15 minutes then quiet for over the next 30-45 minutes... a wheat here and there...

Then I got a rough nickle signal @ 3-4... Out popped the 1936 Buffalo... 5 minutes later... a no-dater buffalo...

The last No-Dater Buffalo came in towards the end of the hunt...

Next up was a 1953 D Roosevelt Silver Dime...

The next Signal as a 12/29 in all directions... I was thinking token or... *shrug* I was not expecting this small silver coin...

1873 Silver 20 Pfennig...

Next coin out was a 1941 Silver Mercury Dime...

I got a iffy 12/42 12/46 signal @ 6-8 range... When I went to pin point the target is locked onto a 12/15 a few inches away that turned out to be a kids hair baret... Once I popped that out the 12/42 12/46 was a little more pronounced but not a banging signal... but enough to investigate and dig....

I was not expecting an 1810 Half Cent!

There was a total of 10 wheats in the mix...

You can see how small that 1873 German Coin is...

I had a great time... only one older Jeffereson in the mix, but all of the rest were keepers...

Nice variety of stuff! Half cents are hard to find. You would think there would be more of them out there, but they don't come up very often. Nice couple of silvers. Love the German 20 cent (pfennig) piece. thumbsup01 That place has got some real potential. From half cents to Roosevelts lol Quite a range. I wonder what's in that overgrown part  probably nothing but gold lol Sweet hunt!

Is the ring sterling? Or is it costume?

The ring is costume... Looks better that the junk stuff of today... but its old junk :-)

Yeah the German coin... when I 1st saw the size of it on the end of a clod of dirt I was thinking 3 cent silver... but knew right aways that is was not... Funny thing is the last 12/29 deeper signal I dug like this was an 1867 Silber Groshen - A little larger coin from the same area of the planet in the same era...

Yeah I can't wait to work this site some more... I was not expecting 1800 silver and half pennies... but now that I know there is more history... I am anxious to recover it :-)

That sounds like a good idea. I'm sure that there are locations we can up with and have a group meet up to detect it. It would be fun.

Ok, I see the words half cent. They only made 215,000 that year. That makes quite a find. In that condition maybe $50. Hopefully it cleans up much better. Nice find anyhow. That's one of my elusive denominations. among others. Anyone find a 20 cent piece? Like to see it.
