I have been metal detecting for a little over 3 months now. My son talked me in to buy my first detector. I have become addictive to the sport and can't wait to see what I can find. Hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hey Bobby, welcome aboard from western MA. Where are you from and what type of machine do you use? Detecting is addictive for sure lol But it pays off in great times, excercise, and lots of history. Hope you find something nice soon.

Another welcome from western MA. All of us on the forum suffer from the addiction. Looking forward to your future finds. Feel free to post up some of your past finds.

Thanks everyone for welcoming me, I hope to post some of my finds. I am new here and still figuring out how to post  . Here 's a photo of some musket balls I found the last 2 days, I think they are from the Civil War but not sure what cal. Can anyone help me ID them.

Hey Bobby, You can never really tell how old a musket ball is. To get the actual caliber, you can take a set of callipers and measure it , but I think the best way is to weigh it. There are probably some charts out there to tell you the weights. From the picture it looks like you have a 54 cal, 44 cal, and a 31 cal. Roughly speaking that is lol Nice old finds!!
