Had a chance to get out Thursday for a few hours and staying about 20 feet or so around the well.

Did find a couple tombac buttons, and this decorative piece, not quite sure what it is, though I think it could be one part of a belt clasp of some sort.. thoughts anyone?

And found another coin, it is very worn, just one side has a little detail, I think it may be a KG III

Looking forward to going back Saturday

Two very nice finds, Scott! I love the face on the decorative piece. I wonder what it was used for?

The coin is pretty slick but you can definitely see "GEORGIUS" and the outline of the right-facing bust.

I hope that well has a sign or something to warn passers by!

Congrats on the finds! :clapping:

Well, I was contacted by someone and has informed me that the coin I found isn't a KGIII, its a King William III, more than likely a half penny, (1689 - 1702) which would make this my oldest coin find yet. Super stoked.. he sent me images to show the comparison.

You got an oldie there, Scott! That area of Williams coins seems to be the place they wear the least. You can always see the pig-tail. :clapping:

Congrats on that William III. It's a fantastic find and, actually, it's in less worn condition than most found. Those coins must have circulated for decades. Awesome!:perfect10:
