I Dug My Oldest Silver Yesterday. From a Bean Field!!

Digger Don

I went out yesterday with Noah & Hiluxyota to hit a bean field. I did some research last year and found a site that was the county fair grounds from 1850 - 1880. We only had a chance to hit once this spring before the field was planted. ( it took a while to find the owner) On that hunt I pulled an 1875 seated dime. Yesterday it happened again, I only dug one coin out of the field all day, but it was an 1842 seated dime. My oldest silver!!

Before we headed home, we hit one farm house and I dug these goodies!

Thanks for looking, Don

That field could be amazing! Hope you detect it for many years with many finds!! Congrats on your oldest US silver!

Only thing about getting your oldest US silver is that now you need to recover one that is older. Congrats on your seated....:clapping:

Congrats on your oldest silver, Don! That is a very early Seated! Just five years older and you would be into the Capped Bust Dimes. It makes you wonder who lost that one. Ten cents was a lot of money back then. It looks like it was probably in circulation for 20-30 years.

Way to go! I bet that one put a big smile on your face!
