I hit a fairgrounds near me that is dated from the mid 1880's the other night. This place the last couple years has been good to me but I know it could be much much better. Unfortunately 80% of it has been regraded and then topped with asphalt grindings for parking. But I came across a fairly deep and consistent 21 signal that I was hoping was an indian. After widening the hole and pulling out some rusty wire I found a crusty indian. Resweeping I still got a low 20s VDI. widening the hole even more resulted in more rusty wire and a hole that resembled a bird bath! But I looked at the back end of my dirt pile and saw a silver quarter!

An 1899 Barber quarter!

I bathed the Indians in boiling hydrogen peroxide and one is 1883 and the other is an 188X.

Thanks for looking! Jared

Beautiful Barber Quarter! :loveit: And it's from the 1800s too. That's awesome!

I wonder if the little car is an old Cracker Jack prize? :thinkingabout:

Atta boy Jared. Congrats on the finds. All the fairgrounds near me are the same or they moved consistently throughout the years and now are parking lots or buildings on them.

I know all of us have thought this... I wish we could go in a time machine with our detectors and detect about 120 years ago. That is all I think about if I watch an old Western movie. For you guys out East it might be longer....lol
