The American Detectorist family was very saddened to hear about the passing of one of its very well known and respected members Civil War Nut. Earl was an outstanding member and friend to American Detectorist and we will miss his enthusiasm for the hobby as well as his knowledge of history and Civil War relics.

But most of all his friendship and great down to earth personality will be a huge loss to all that have come to know him here. Earl was a very successful and respected metal detectorist and his passion was Civil War relic hunting in and around the Tennessee area where he made some great historic finds. He volunteered his time to local museums and helped preserve this very same history that he loved and revered so much.

He was a great ambassador and spreader of good will to our hobby and will be missed. The American Detectorist administrators and moderators would like to extend our most sincerest condolences to his family and close friends.

CWN was a great presence on our forum and always impressed us with his incredible hunts, passion for the hobby and
his eagerness to answer any questions thrown his way.

He passed on a great amount of Civil War information and facts to me every time I sought his help.

Earl was an exemplary detectorist and a valuable member of this forum. He was friendly and generous, always willing to share his knowledge. He will be greatly missed by all of us.

Hi Heather :) I'm glad you found this memorial and also the comments In Memory. I was so sorry to hear about your dad and feel for your entire family.

As you already know, Earl was a very active and well-respected member here and also a good friend of mine. He may have mentioned being invited to Central Kentucky for club meetings and a couple group hunts that he couldn't make- that was me who invited him. I was so very shocked and saddened by his death. My father died recently also, so I think I do know how you are feeling. He also went too early (in his 60's). Like your dad he was adventurous and loved history.

Thanks for making a post Heather. Your dad was a one of a kind member here at American Dectorist. :yes: He had his own way with words that made his post standout. His knowledge and love of civil war relics were unmatched.

We'll all miss Earl and his true love of history. I trust Ms Hobbs and her family will have cheerful memories of him.
 
Hello Heather,
I am very sorry for the loss of your Father. Please accept my sincerest condolences, and extend them to your to your family as well. While your Father is not physically with us anymore in this world, rest assured he will continue to live on in the stories of his finds he has shared here on the forum. Ultimately, he has become a part of the history that he loved so much. Perhaps even now he is finally getting to meet some of those folks that left behind those relics that he unearthed so enthusiastically, and respectfully on his hunts. He will be missed.
