King George II

Here is a 1734 King George II copper I found a couple of weeks ago . some before cleaning , after an initial cleaning and a final cleaning pictures . These Coins here in the northeast are not uncommon to find , and most are not rare or very special so i decided to use a new tool on it . Its called Eurotool a pen like fiberglass brush and i was very nicely surprised at the finished look . honing your cleaning skills on the "average or common coins" will help you save those scarce or rare types .

Thanks gentlemen . I was pleased how some of the finer details came out pretty well . like the ribbon at the back of his head and the X in REX. see his eye and facial features differences in the highlighted pictures.

:shocked04: That's amazing Dan !!! Great work on giving King George a facelift . I would never have believed results like that could be possible .:thumbsup02:

Al , I'm always on the look out to find better tips and tools to help with cleaning coins , especially coppers . I read about these some months back and ordered two of their "scratch brushes" (what a name to a coin guy huh?) the nylon one and the fiber glass one but this was my first real serious test . This King George I really didn't think would get much better (second picture ) so I figured "ah I'm not going to lose too much sleep if I make it worse" . the nylon brush is much gentler than the fiber glass one . since this post i did an 1833 matron that was covered in a rough textured look and the coin is more appealing now .
