Lots of late 1800's relics

Decided to hit a late 1800s site that I had poked around at before. I would pass this site on my hike in to a colonial site. Found a few things there in the past but never really spent too much time at it.

I had a fun few hours digging a bunch of non-ferrous targets. Horse tack buckles were plentiful along with harmonica reeds, hosiery clips, a nice pad lock, small bell and other typical late 1800 site finds.

Dug a cool old watch fob with a golf scene, a plated button with a cattail motif and a rosette that looks like it has an old sailing ship motif.

I didn't think it was possible to dig that many non-ferrous targets without finding a coin. Not complaining though, no ticks, lots of targets, fun hunt.

thats a lot of non ferrous targets right there Jeff , I can't recall ever seeing a nautical themed rosette . there has to be a few coins laying around there .

How many times did you think you were digging a coin? Is that a crotal on the left? Very nice Jeff!

You had a great hunt there. Lots of cool finds, but my favorites are the FOB, Lock & Crotal bell. Very cool finds.
:congrats:

Thanks folks.

Yeah, that is an odd design Dan. Looks like it might have the ship's name in the ribbon below the ship. Can't quite make it out yet.

Yep Drew, there were a few minor and a couple of major fake-outs  That small bell isn't made of that crotal alloy so I am guessing it is a later piece.

Ok now you have me very interested in the rosette and the odd crotal bell , is the bell one of the very thinly stamped kind??

Looks like a fun hunt! :thumbsup01: Lotsa ferrous targets is a good thing.... as long as their not aluminum junk
Sounds kinda like a spot I hit last week. Been there a few times and never spent mch time there, but on this trip found some goodies!
You just never now what'll turn up! :daydream:
Congrats on the goodies!
I'm with Don, I like the RR lock the most! But the ship rosette is a close second.

Jeff, I got a place with a ridic amount of cellar holes and for some reason the only coins I pulled up were a few modern clad. But I been pulling up quite a bit of repeatable non-ferrous 1800s targets there. I pulled up 5 brass clock gear guide plates, which ring up like a coin...i.e. if someone hit there and cherry picked they sure missed quite a few high VDI targets. Nice finds tho.

Nice finds!!! I like the watch fob the best of all! There's gotta be a coin around there
