Military (cuff?) Button

In between Monkeys, turtles, and snakes I managed to find a wiped copper and this military button. Any idea about the shank? Thanks everyone |:confused:) |:cheering: |:confused:)

You find the weirdest stuff Drew lol Was it pinned on cloth or a tie instead of being a button? Dunno :dontknow:

I don't know what it was pinned on. It was 5in deep in a hay field lol

I've only found 2 like that -they both have 'P' for Police/Postmaster and found that they're uniform buttons and the wire posts for putting on the hat/cap.

i agree Drew it looks post civil war or Indian wars era and probably a kepi button (a hat button)
