Minelab to release something new on Friday

I get a no permission to view the page. I guess you have to have an acct. Is the the pinpointer? Has that been announced yet?

It might be the pulse detector that has been rumored (with discrimination) and around 2k or so. We'll see...

It is not the pinpointer as they already announced that.

Hey Sarge, I'm really sorry about not replying but I never got an email alerting me to the 2 messages you sent. I always reply promptly to peoples PM's and You tube questions. I'll answer you now.

Take care,
Albert

I thought that pin pointer was supposed to be out by now as well. May be it is a pulse based detector with full discrimination. Wouldn't that be cool?

Less than 4.5 hours now should be announced at 8:30pm

I am guessing it will be an coin treasure machine, with better ground mineralization capabilities ala GPX-5000 better headphones wireless? waterproof? and more coils available for it than the E-Trac available from Minelab....just a guess but stuff I would like to see anyway.

Lot's of great new features but still don't know about the innerds.

Even if it's FBS, being waterproof will make it a great detector for shallow wading and digging deeper targets than with the Excal. I'm doubting it's a PI but we will soon see.

Talk about a tease, now we have to wait another week for the details. They did not even tell me how much I have to spend, not that I'll even buy one, LOL. I want one and I want it now!

Here are a couple of photos. Reports on other forums are putting a price for a basic at $2500 and one with I'm guessing the wireless headset at $3000. That is a lot of clad!

how much  i thought you said $3000....ha ha ha ....bloody hell you did say $3000.
ive got to ask , can a detector realy be that much better than one that costs 300 ?.
im not a cheep bloke but i dont think i could warant spending that amount .....still..im out with angel tomorrow and i think he has an etrak so i can see how good thay are , mind you i think angel could find more than me with a stick and a coat hanger taped to the end of it..... :embarrassed:

Wow... thanks for posting the photos Jeff. That is one sexy looking machine. :smitten:
Definitely a big speculated price tag.

Can't wait to see how this event unfolds. :->

In my opinion, we might be missing the point all together...

Never mind the colour screen, wireless audio, GPS or the mapping,
these are all features which easily fit in that slime control box...

Like everyone noted what stands out is the large battery case and
large battery = large power supply = large power consumption = PI

What if the CTX3030 combines VLF with PI technology?

quote from Bruce Candys US Patent 8063777 of November 22, 2011
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[...] where the operator is able to [...] select different waveforms
[...] examples [...] being time-domain, square-wave, sine wave [...]

if I'm not mistaken, then...
  • time-domain .....means PI technology
    square-wave ....means multi-frequency technology
    sine wave ........means VLF technology
I don't know if above mentioned patent is the one for the CTX3030, but
it would explain the large battery, and as waterproofing would allow salt
water detecting a machine which can be switched to PI if needed would
be better suited...

Back on land you could switch it back to Multi-frequency for
relic hunting, or single VLF, and/or, PI for Gold Prospecting...

Just a thought

Yes, that is a scary thought.

You make some very good points. I personally want improvement in technology that improves finding targets and not just bells and whistles that make the display look better.

I'm pretty excited about this new detector because it may enable me to consolidate my arsenal a little. BUT the thing would have to be neutrally buoyant for me do so. :thinkingabout:

Looking at the pics, I get the impression that the water displacement is greater than the Excal. If true and the machine is neutrally buoyant, then it would be too heavy for land use (like the Excal).

What I'd like to do is sell the Excal I use for wading and my backup E-Trac and buy the CTX3030. Then I'd be down to 3 machines: Excal set up for SCUBA, E-trac for land and CTX3030 for wading and backup land use. We shall soon see.
