Non-Dug

Hey everyone,
A homeowner found a bunch of non-dug relics in their house to match what I've been turning up on the property. I thought it interesting to see what these things look like in near original condition.

I was always under the impression ball buttons were super old, like late 1600s but this one looks very nicely crafted for being that old. Anyone have any thoughts? I compared it to one I dug.

Also, anyone ever see such tiny shoe buckle type things?

Wow, truly beautiful relics Drew! The two large buckle pieces go together. The little shoe buckles are probably for children's shoes or knee buckles perhaps. The ball buttons with the 2 little blow holes on the back are typically dated to late 1600's but the form was used commonly up to the 3rd quarter of the 1800's. Too bad the home owner didn't give all that stuff to you! LOL

That is a unique looking button Drew. Not your typical blowhole style. I have one tiny "shoe buckle" looking thing like those. Mine is missing the innards though. It too bad what a couple of hundred years of weather will do to a relic.

You're right, Dave...I wouldn't have noticed those two buckles go together...and they DID give them to me. Making friends with the property owners is just another benefit of detecting.
