Outer Banks

We are going to be vacationing in the Outer Banks this summer. We've rented a house in Duck!
Any beaches in particular I should head to?

I was told that detecting the beaches along Cape Hatters and anywhere around the Outer Banks is not permitted. There have been a lot of shipwrecks along that coast. Also, Black beards treasure is buried some where down there. You might want to check there rules first.

Thanks for the suggestion Robbie! The only info I could find on line said no metal detecting on NPS land which starts south of Nags head. So I just sent an email to the NC web site and asked about the beaches above the National Seashore. I will post the reply when it comes.
