Recent hunt with ILdigger

I invited Tim aka Ill digger up for a hunt this past week. We started out at an old school site that turned out to be a flop with mostly fill dirt covering the original ground. We moved on to site #2 which was the church site I recently got permission to hunt. Within 5 minutes I had my first good find a 1918 Buffalo. I manage to find another Buffalo 1913, 12 wheats, a 1901 Indian and no silver for me. I know how much Tim loves going to my famous picnic grove so we packed up and ate lunch in route to the grove. I decided to try the CTX 6 inch coil in some of the more trashy areas and wheats started popping. I found 13 more wheats for the day and with only 30 minutes left to hunt I finally hit silver a 1906 Barber dime. It was only 3 inches down amongst the trash. I will not go into what Tim found but I will say he kicked my butt with the Etrac. He managed to get himself a first and a few more nice finds. We had beutiful weather and it was a fantastic day of hunting with great friend.

Congrats on all your finds. 25 wheats, WOW. It's always nice when forum members get together for a day of hunting.

Buff Indian and Barber makes for a fantastic hunt for sure :thumbsup01:

the grove that you talk about sounds a lot like a place we have close to home although it has been hunted hard for thirty years it still has a surprise left now it has been sold so it may be gone for good but like your grove the finds and the memories are forever congrats on another great hunt dennis

Great finds, Jeff! It sounds like you and Tim had a great day of detecting! That old picnic grove sure has produced a lot of great finds over the years. It must be nice to have a "go to" site like that!

:congrats:

The 6" coil goes pretty deep in the right soil. I use mine a lot, especially at cellar holes. Nice group of coins!
