Same small town, produces big silver!

I am beginning to REALLY like that town that me and my dad have been going to. The last few days have produced a "first". Besides yesterday, we have gone there 4 days in a row, and each time produced something amazing. We were going to go to a park in this town to try it, but there were tons of kids and baseball games in all of them, so we decided to ask a few houses again. We knocked on a little old mining house. Turns out it was built in 1865. I felt kind of bad, because I never let my dad use HIS E-trac! Hah! In the front we didn't get much, just a toy car, but in the back, I finally let my dad have the E-trac, but then he gave it back so he could talk to the home owner. Literally not even 5 seconds after he gave me the detector, I got a nice screaming 12-48, 11-47 about 6-7 inches deep. When I got my plug open, I tried digging a bit and hit something big so I figured it was ANOTHER pop can. I stuck the probe in and was getting the same numbers, I pulled out some dirt and put it all on my rag, and the big thing was still at the bottom of the hole, but the signal was gone. I took out my Pro-Pointer, and rubbed it over the top of my dirt pile. In one of the sweeps, I removed the dirt to reveal the face of a Franklin half. I was extremely happy!

Nice job Alec. It wasn't that long ago that you got excited about finding wheat cents, now you don't even mention them
The 1909 you dug tonight was really nice also.

That Franklin Half is an awesome find, Alec! HUGE congrats on that one! I have never found a Franklin Half, it's still on my bucket list.

You're really starting to do well with that E-Trac! :thumbsup02:

:congrats:

Way to go on the silver half. Franklins are far rarer to come out of the ground than Walkers. Found quite a few walkers and even a couple of Barber halves, but only 2 Franklins. Nice find.

Congrats Alec! That is indeed a hard coin to find. They were in production a short time and were very quickly hoarded when we went off the silver standard in 1964. Best wishes and HH, Dave.
