Short Hunt For Silver

Late this afternoon I made another trip for a short hunt to the park coinnut and I worked yesterday. I arrived at almost five and had to work quickly since a group was preparing to use the field for a baseball game. I detected the fringes of the area I worked yesterday and picked up another three silver coins - two mercury dimes, dated 1920 and 1929, and a 1959 Roosevelt. The 1929 mercury dime was stuck to a wheat cent, similar to another spill I dug up during yesterday's hunt. The dime is in bad shape though.

HH!

See, we should have stayed a bit longer and you would have had them the other day  Must be the season for coin spills. Nice little hunt and 3 more for the pile!! Looking at the back of that '29 Merc, it seems like it was dropped soon after it was made. Maybe a candidate for the aluminum foil cleaning. It looks like it was new when it was dropped.

You are probably right.

I did pick up three coin spills from that section. I will try to clean up that dime. The obverse has a heavy and crusty coating of sulfide. It's hard to make out any details. It should clean up well though.

Nice addition of three more silver. You will definitely make 1000 for the year! :thumbsup01:
