Silver Fever 12/18/13

Got out last night with hopes of finding some Silver to help calm the Silver Fever. Was hunting an area that was a town back in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Found a 1919 wheat penny, but no relief for the Silver Fever. Got a 12-13 on my 3030 and was hoping it would be a V nickel or Buff, was not expecting to find a 1917 10k gold class ring instead. I hope to find the owners family and return it to them, but the ring don't have very much information so this maybe next to impossible.

Thanks for looking,

Finding gold just created GOLD fever in addition to SILVER fever :shocked04: What is the corrosion that seems to encase the band? Hope to see a picture of it when you are done cleaning it up. That beats a nickel any day :clapping:

Where I found the ring is normally about 3 to 4 ft of Lake Texoma water, which has some saltwater. I have cleaned all the encrustation off, but I found that the ring has a break in the band, from being bent. I took it down to a jeweler and they wanted 65.00 to straighten and fix the ring. So for now it is as good as it will get unless I find some of the owners family.
