This past Tuesday,I was loading our dumpster with construction debri when I heard a tink from under my feet.As I looked down in the large gravel I found this large silver spoon.:shocked04: and amazed at what a great find and wondered where did this come from.I told the contractor and showed it to him.He said WOW,that`s how you do it.Maybe it came with the gravel,I don`t know, but I`ll definitely look around more, maybe this time with my detector.Any idea on how old it is?It has two stamps on the inside spoon close to the handle.France and Christofle.

Wow what a great find!! Here is a link to their web page. Briefly reading it, they started in 1830. As a guess I'd say 1830-1850's on that spoon. I'm not sure how long that shell motif was popular for.

See if they will reply back to an e mail from you about it? Can't hurt  I did see other spoons with the shell motif and it has been used for many years. I'm upping the guess to 1850's -1870's. :thinkingabout:Hope someone that knows the stylistic features of spoons will give you a real date on it. Also pictures of the hallmarks would probably help a lot too.

:congrats:on getting a whole spoon. Still looking for my 1st and one of those are very high on my wish list. Hope you can get a definitive age on it.
