Small Buckle?

I found this quite a while back. Don't recall what it was used for, or if its colonial. It's not rectangular like a knee buckle and its too small for a shoe buckle. Any ideas? Happy New year!

Thanks, Dan. You can tell by the chape being a latch hook type thing? Happy New Year!

Drew it has a two tine tongue and "anchor" style chape that suggest is later than around 1700 , probably a mid-century example . its a nice one
