Some Days You Just Gotta Scuffle!

Some days it seems the finds just jump out of the ground and other days.....not so much! Friday we went to a new site....might as well try detecting in a land fill...yep that contaminated with modern trash. We moved along to the field that has been good to us, not much going on there, Diane got a Reins Guide and I got just some bits and a big old cook pot. Moved to another site and I dug a bunch of head stamps. Just before it was time to go Diane saved the hunt with a super toasted Large Cent!

Lots of high targets! I like those shoe plates. Odd place for a hole on that copper! I'm glad you folks got some keepers, congrats!

Lol, Now you know what I go through with some of the sites I been to. OMG it's ridic dealing with the junk there. Esp one that lasted thru the '30s. Many overload signals. It was filled with D buckles and aluminum blobs (making me think the barn was in a fire from aluminum wiring which is late 60's it could have lasted until). Only 2 coins. A KG2 and a 1901 IH.. quite a large gap. Grats on the LC and toe plate. I wonder if I found something like your top middle piece. I have to take pics and post them, so check back. As far as that pot goes, you dug that? It was buried? All the sites I been to that have old pots I can always see them sticking up thru the leaves. Its the crushed buckets that I dig because being flattened they can get buried.

Odd place for a hole on that copper!

I don't think it was commemorative or a pendant. Just holed to keep on a string. I don't think it was all the time when they were meticulous where they put the holes. The latest GW that Davey dug he thinks was holed to reuse and the holes are unevenly placed compared to the design.

It sometimes goes that way Tony. Heck, nearly all of the cellar holes I've hit (something like 50 plus) have already been hunted so I expect to just be cleaning up the leftovers. There can be great leftovers lurking in the back of the refrigerator though!
