Digger Don

I went out solo this morning for a couple of hours at an old school I found last week. After about 15 minutes, I got an iffy signal with a nice sound. It was "kind of repeatable" & very faint. After digging down about 8 inches, My first Merc of the year, A 1943. Before I left, I added 5 Wheats, a 1977 Canadian penny, $4.85 in clad, a copper skull Ring, Chrysler key ( I find a key almost every hunt ), A pressed Penny And some kind of old button . The front has the letters "dieu et mon droit" The crest has a Lion & a unicorn. I thinks it may be British or maybe french

:congrats:on digging that "iffy" signal and scoring your 1st merc of the year. Cool looking skull ring and flattened penny.

Nice finds Don. Nice feeling when you play the odds on those iffy signals and your assumptions prove correct.

Great hunt, Don! Congrats on your first Merc of the year! I really like that elongated cent, I bet it has some age to it. The British button is very cool also.

You had a great day! :thumbsup02:

Don the French phrase " Dieu et mon droit " translates to 'God and my right' and is used on the royal coat of arms of the United Kingdom. I believe Henry VIII started this phrase on the royal crest (at that time they ruled much of France) . Although the button doesn't look that old perhaps mid to late 1800's maybe , what is all the back mark read as that can probably narrow down the age of this button.
