Here's the biggest buffalo nickel I ever found rofl I found it last summer detecting around where they had torn out some sidewalks in town here, I also made many other great finds in that area too.

I don't really know Greg, it might be made from zinc is what I was kinda thinking by the way it corroded.

I have several nickels about that size, also with the buffalo nickel motiff.
The ones I have are called Silver Rounds and are 1oz of .999 pure silver.
Don't know that would account for yours, but perhaps a possibility?

Hey, I think what you found is a novelty coin, kinda the opposite of the shrunkin' coins they have. Here is a stinkin' zincoln I got somewheres. They are just for display, as kind of a gag item.

Thanks for all the great replies everyone thumbsup01 I think it's probably nothing but an old paper weight, I found it in the yard lot (now city lot) where the contractors for the excavating & concrete work were parking their machinery. It was several inches down under the shade of an oak tree. I've tried finding out about it but to no avail but it's in mighty rough shape.

A guy I was working with offered to sell me a 1877 IH for $1.00. So I warned him a 1877 IH is worth a lot more than that !!
He said I don't care. I don't want it So I gave him my dollar and he gave me a 1877 IH alright...... lol

I don't know for sure. I'm sure it a cheep metal. But it is metal for sure. I just don't know what kind :dontknow:
