The Silver Gods are Smiling Again, Kinda!

Man, these hunts are getting tough. Spent all day, hunted three properties. All built in the 20's and 30's. Some clad, 3 wheats, 41, 44 and one that was toast. A 1943-S War Nickle. And a 1935 Merc. This Merc was laying right up against a sidewalk. Look at the first pic. See how dark gray it is? What is this? I like to have never got it off. It felt oily and greasy. The back side is pretty much toast. I don't have a clue. Thanks for looking and HH.

I never count the war nickles as silver, altho they are 35%. Do most people count these as silver?

Nice finds!!

That merc looks like it was sitting on some concrete and got ran over by a semi or two.
