I've been meaning to post but the time to do it is a thing I'm lacking these days! Anyway, I found these last Saturday and although they are really ugly, they are both firsts for me.

I got this 1921-S Morgan at about 3 next to a tree. Thought I was digging another bottle cap  but when I saw it :shocked04: I let out an uncontrollable sound that was heard for miles! Not sure how it was missed all these years but lucky for me it was!!

A short while later I dug this up from about 6 and at first didn't know what it was until a hunting bud came up, took one look and said seated dime!!!. He should know since he's dug up quite a few in his day! Thanks MT!! Although the date is gone, the back is pretty clear and I've been told it is at least 1860, maybe older!

Also got a Rosie and a couple of wheats! All in all, a great day hunting for me! Thanks for looking!

Wow!! I'm glad you made some time to share
That is awesome!! So....there are some left  thumbsup01
Congrats on the sweet finds!!

You might be able to fix that Morgan. There's probably some chemical to soak it in...or I'd at least give a Mr. Clean Magic eraser a try. Sweet finds!!! You don't see morgans come out of the ground every day.

As far as the Seated Dime is concerned  Unless you are in a salt beach area, it may be a contemporary counterfeit. Does it read a silver dime on your machine or does it read much lower. It is awful degraded for a silver piece. Counterfeits are not real common during that time period, but are very collectable. I'd be happy either way, since Seated is always nice to find and a counterfeit would be kinda cool to find. Nice finds both of them. thumbsup01

Thanks for all the comments guys! Not sure if I'll clean the Morgan but if I do I'll post it. As for the seated, someone told me that it looked like it may have been in a fire which makes sense considering how nasty it looks. No matter, I'll just have to find another one! Thanks again!!

nice silver! i use stuff called TARN-X on silver like that.it's a clear liquid dip sold at wal-greens,rite-aid or wal-mart.will not hurt the coin.1921 is a common date and it sure would look pretty with all that black gone to others but, that's your choice.I kinda like it just the way it is.the black tarnish looks pretty cool to me.leaving the black on makes it one of a kind as opposed to every other 1921 morgan thumbsup01

Nice finds thumbsup01 I've heard soaking in ammonia- I'm still learning about cleaning... Have you heard about soaking coins in olive oil for a month to remove crud like rust?
