We've been out every weekend for the past two months. Man! Meteorite hunting is tougher than it looks. (Well, actually the hunting is just hot, dirty, and dangerous. The FINDING is the tough part. :yes:
We've been slicing our specimens during the week and performing a chemical nickel test. So far, we've got three that we suspect may be the real thing. We've decided to keep it up until we get enough to go the the Univ of Arizona's lab with them for authentication.
None the less, it's a lot of fun. The desert is full of critters, neat rocks, and beautiful scenery. Also, you don't have unattended kids running up to ask you what you're doing every five minutes. lol
Dana has pretty much settled on the MXT (with 6x10 coil) and I've found the Gold Bug perfect for me.
