This weekends finds / First Kennedy Half

Digger Don

Once again, No Silver. But I did manage to dig $9.89 in clad, including a 1972 Kennedy Half. A Ripleys believe it or not token, a toasted old pocket knife, another junk ring and 7 wheaties. . I thought for sure I was going to find Silver today, about half of the quarters I dug were more than seven inches deep and sounded good. I've come to the conclusion that I'm about 25 years to late at the parks I hunt. Time to get out of the burbs and go rural.

Still a good hunt, Don! Kennedy Halves are an unusual find, Very cool!

I really like the Ripley's token too. I wonder how old it is?

Congrats on the neat finds! :thumbsup02:

I have no idea, there is no date on the token . Digging the half was pretty cool, I thought I had another token when I first pulled it out.

Nice haul of clad Don. Yeah, do a little research and try and find some of the more unusual spots, and like you say maybe more rural. I can certainly attest that most of the city parks around here have been hunted very hard. There's still old stuff in the ground, but harder to come by and some luck is involved as well.

Odd, there seems to be a trend here on this forum. This weekend two found state coppers. This weekend two found a butt load of clad. This weekend two found silver GWs. This weekend two found pocket knives, and two found JFK half dollars. The ripley's token I am guessing it was either in the mid 80's when the show was on (which I never knew until now it was hosted by Jack Palance), or in early 2000's when hosted by Dean Cain. The chicago museum opened in 1968.

the Kennedy half must of been pretty exciting to pull out of the ground , monster clad totals Don.:shocked03::congrats:

very nice clad haul, don't think that I have ever dug that much is a hunt. Okay so you're on the quest for silver.....start door knocking at some older homes. I have found many silvers at older homes.

I've been to the Ripley's museum in St. Augustine Florida. I seem to recall it was in the part of town called "old town." I may have been drinking that day so I can't be sure... Nice finds though! HH, Dave.

Geesh, I found my first Kennedy half today! :shocked02: Funny how things run in spurts. You're going to dig lots of silver if you're digging clad quarters at eight inches. After seven wheaties you're due. Nice digging!
