Thought I had my second Confederate button

I found a Florida state seal staff officers coat button today and thought it might be Civil War era until I got home and looked up the backmark. "M C Lilley & Co. Columbus O" did not make buttons until 1876. But, I still had a good day playing in the dirt and learning the Deus. In addition to the Florida button I found a 1903 Indian Head cent, a W W Co lock keyhole cover and a Post Office vest size button with a Fecheimer Bros & co backmark.
When I handed the Florida button to my friend it fell apart but I have all the pieces including most of the paper insert. I may leave it just like it is.

Nice group of finds. I would leave that FL button just as it is as it shows the construction of a button from back in the day.

I forgot to post the "insitu" picture of the Florida button that I took with my cell phone. The button was sticking out of the ground! It wasn't hard to pin point!:grin:
