This rang up as a dime/81....in and out of the ground. Not magnetic. Looks like it has an indentation on top. Any ideas? :dontknow:
Thanks!

I wonder if it's one of many teeth that are fastened to a round roller pushed or pulled by a horse or tractor to aerate the ground ? Front part of Harpoon tip ? Tooth in a rock crushing machine or a wood chipper ? That's a toughie .

Was this on an old farm? It looks like the tip of an old hay mower finger. I'll try to post a pic of what I'm thinking later on.

Google something like antique hay mower images and you might see what I'm thinking.

Thanks guys, ...yeah, I don't know George...feels kinda heavy and seems flakey like lead, but rings up like coppery brass.
Ska, it was at one of my oldest sites....fully wooded in 1934, there are actually two sites there...a cellar hole and a standing 1840s home. The finds seem to either come for the mid 1800s or colonial.

Rebel, You were thinking along the same lines as me. I have found a few random shards of metal in the woods. Broken cast pots, ect. They do kinda shatter and have sharp points. You can tell from the second pic that it is uneven.
