Tuesday Night Hunt / My first SLQ

Digger Don

New member
Got home from work tonight and decided to go out for an hour before it got dark. I drive 3 hours sometimes to hunt but I forget that the town I live in was founded in the 1830s. So I drove down the main street through town and stopped about a mile from my house got permission at a house that was built in 1857.
The first hole I dug was a 1909 Wheat Cent. Then after a few Memorials I dug a 1919 wheat. About a half hour I got a screamer, 12-46 47 at 8". I knew I had Silver, but didn't know I was about to dig my first Standing Liberty Quarter. Very Cool.
It's worn and has no date but I don't care , I finally got one!! I also dug another wheat, a pretty cool little 7" toy rifle and a brass spray nozzle for a hose. The home owner asked if she could have the spray nozzle because it looked old. I told her of course, it belongs to you anyway. She invited me back tomorrow to finish her yard. I'm going to bring Alec this time. He's sure to find some Indians.

Congrats on your first SLQ, Don! That's awesome! They are such a fun coin to find. I haven't dug one yet this year. They don't turn up to often.
